The 25-year-old from Edison left home Nov. 11 after a reported argument with his grandmother
HIGHLAND PARK -- A 25-year-old Edison man who went missing last month was found dead on Monday morning in neighboring Highland Park after he was apparently struck by a train, according to police and his family.
Thomas Oliphant was found by a track inspector near the railroad tracks just before 9 a.m, according to Highland Park Police. It's not known when he was hit.
"We're just so traumatized behind this," his mother Cherise Johnson told NJ Advance Media.
Johnson said her son had a passion to be a model. "He was always smiling," she said.
No arrangements have been made, his aunt Crystal White said. White said they wanted to set up a memorial near where his body was found but were denied since the surrounding areas are restricted.
Oliphant left his Forrest Haven Boulevard home Nov. 11 following an argument with a family member. On Wednesday his grandmother told the MyCentralJersey.com there was no argument.
His grandparents had unsuccessfully tried to reach him since he left home, the report said.
