Perth Amboy authorities cite water current and weather when the person jumped as issues in the search
PERTH AMBOY -- Twelve days after a person jumped from the Victory Bridge, authorities are still searching for the person's body in the Raritan River.
"The difficulty comes from the water current and the windy weather on the day the individual jumped," city spokeswoman Noelia Colon said.
On Tuesday, the New York Police Department Marine Unit, Garden State Underwater Recovery Unit and Neptune police were assisting city police on the river. State Police previously helped in the search.
State contractors installed a fence on the bridge in 2014 after close to two dozen suicides occurred at the span over a decade.
The Perth Amboy Police Chaplain Corps have provided counseling services to the family.
