Mallory Christ, 29, a math teacher at South Amboy High School was required to give up her teaching certificate after agreeing to enter a pre-trial intervention program
SOUTH PLAINFIELD -- A South Plainfield High School teacher and cheerleading coach charged with sending inappropriate photos of herself to a male student had her teaching certificate revoked by state officials earlier this month.
Mallory Christ, 29, of South Plainfield, was required to surrender her teaching license as part of a deal with prosecutors to enter a pre-trial intervention program for first-time offenders, according to the state Department of Education ruling.
Christ was charged in June with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. She was accused of sending two photos of herself through social media to the student in February, prosecutors said. School officials learned of the images and contacted authorities, prosecutors said.
Christ taught algebra to juniors and seniors at South Plainfield High School for two years and served as the school's cheerleading coach, authorities said. She held a teaching license in New Jersey since 2010 and previously worked at Sayreville War Memorial High School.
