WOODBRIDGE -- A man was struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train early Thursday, officials said.
The man was hit near the Woodbridge station at about 12:19 a.m.., according to an agency spokesman.
There were no passengers on the train, which was moving equipment from a maintenance facility in Kearny to Long Branch, the spokesman said.
Service was suspended for about 30 minutes between Rahway and South Amboy before resuming with 40 minute delays.
Trains are now running on or close to schedule as the morning rush gets going.
The identity of the person was not immediately available.
The Woodbridge station -- off Main Street downtown is one of the three train stations in the township along with Metropark and Avenel.
