MILLSBORO, Del. -- Two Edison men tied up a Delaware man in his garage, beat him with rakes and then demanded his marijuana, according to the Delaware State Police.

At around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a resident in the 30000 block of Gull Point Road called police to report that a tenant was tied up in the garage, police said.

Police said when they arrived, they found the 23-year-old victim who said he had been assaulted by the men, who initially came to the house asking to rake leaves.

The two men were later identified as Miguel R. Velasquez, 20, and Kent A. Mautes, 21, both of Edison.

Police said the two men approached the home, rakes in hand, but were told their services were not needed.

While the victim and the men were talking, one of the men hit the victim in the face with the rake, dragged him into the garage, and zip-tied his hands and feet together, before putting a knife to his neck demanding to know "where his weed was," police said.

Police said that after obtaining the marijuana, the men fled in a black Mitsubishi Galant with New Jersey registration, and a trooper responding to the area spotted the vehicle and performed a traffic stop.

The men were taken into custody without incident and more than 300 grams of marijuana was recovered from them, police said.

The men were charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, second-degree assault, second-degree burglary, and related charges.

They were arraigned in Sussex County, Delaware and taken to Sussex Correctional Institution on $70,000 bond, according to police.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening and later released, police said.
