Moe, a Rhodesian ridgeback, ran out of his New Brunswick home after being scared by New Year's fireworks
MIDDLESEX COUNTY -- A Rutgers University service dog who ran off after being scared by New Year's fireworks in New Brunswick has been reunited with his handlers, according to a report on CBS-2.
Moe was found Monday on railroad tracks in Edison by a couple out for a walk. The Edison Fire Department cut a hole in a fence and rescued the dog. His paws were scraped up and he appeared shaken, but was otherwise unhurt, the report said.
The Rhodesian ridgeback, who was on the verge of being placed with a veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder, was sent to Garden State Veterinary Services in the Iselin section of Woodbridge to be checked.
Moe's trainer, a member of the Rutgers University Companion Animal Club, told the television station it's uncharacteristic of Moe to try to run away.
The club hung fliers around New Brunswick, spent the day searching and contacted the television station in an effort to track down the dog.
