John T. O'Donnell Sr., 58, of Nazareth, Pa., was charged in July in the death of Marcus Scroggins, 33, of Edison.
EDISON -- A Pennsylvania man accused of killing a local man in a wrong-way crash on Route 27 during a drug overdose last year has been indicted, court records show.
John T. O'Donnell Sr., 58, was arrested July 12 following an investigation into the death of an Edison man, Marcus Scroggins, according to local and county authorities.
O'Donnell allegedly drove a rental U-Haul box truck on the wrong side of the state highway on April 5 at about 1:45 p.m., side-swiped a Ford Explorer and crashed head-on into a Pontiac Grand Am, killing the 33-year-old driver, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey previously said in a statement.
When first responders arrived at the crash, officials said the Nazareth, Pa., man was "under the influence of narcotics" and treated with the anti-overdose nasal spray Narcan, according to authorities.
The driver of the Explorer was also injured, police said.
O'Donnell was indicted in Middlesex County Superior Court on a death by auto charge, aggravated manslaughter and assault by auto on Jan. 3, records show.
He has remained in Middlesex County jail since July on $250,000 bail, corrections officials said.
