Roland Amos was charged in the shooting death of Brian Hoey on Sept. 1, 2014, following a monthlong investigation
NEW BRUNSWICK -- Jury selection is set to start this week in the trial of a North Brunswick man accused of killing his 43-year-old neighbor more than two years ago.
Roland Amos, 40, was charged with murder in the shooting death of Brian Hoey on Sept. 1, 2014, following a month-long investigation into the incident on Schmidt Lane.
Police previously said they were called to the Belcourt Townhomes at Hidden Lake at about 1:30 a.m. after neighbors reported hearing several shots and a woman scream.
Hoey was pronounced dead at the scene.
Amos faces a murder charge, as well as multiple weapons offenses, hindering his arrest and witness tampering for allegedly trying to get someone to lie to police about the incident.
Represented by public defenders Melissa Karabulut and Adam Axel, Amos is scheduled to appear in Middlesex Superior Court Tuesday morning in front of Judge Dennis Nieves.
Assistant Prosecutors Christine D'Elia and Fabrice Charles will make the case for the state.
Amos has remained jailed on $1.2 million bail since his arrest on Oct. 2, 2014, in Middlesex Borough.
Zoraida Rodriguez, Amos' live-in companion, was also indicted on a charge of hindering the city man's arrest.
