HILLSBOROUGH - The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and township police coordinated a training session for Joker and Aleck, two tracking blood hounds used by the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.

The training took place Sunday at the Sourland Mountain Preserve, according to a news release.

Capt. Christopher Penna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, along with Capt. Brian Hoey of the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and Officer Chris Engelhardt of the Hillsborough K9 unit accompanied Mike Campbell and Debbie Campbell of South Plainfield and their canines, who are part of the Middlesex County Canine Search and Rescue Team.

"This training session is yet another great example of the relationship between the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office working together to best serve our community," Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson said. "I thank all who participated."

The dogs have assisted Middlesex County authorities in over 50 investigations involving missing and endangered adults and children.

The mandatory monthly training sessions included several volunteers who were also in attendance on Sunday. Dan Livak and Ranger David Dendler of the Somerset County Park Commission assist in the training sessions.
