The driver suffered minor injuries
WOODBRIDGE -- Authorities are investigating after a hammer crashed through the windshield of a Lexus as it travelled on the northbound Parkway Thursday afternoon, State Police said.
The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. near milepost 134.3, not far from Exit 135.
The driver suffered minor injuries and did not need medical attention, police said.
This was at least the second time in less than a month that a heavy object struck and shattered the windshield of a vehicle travelling on a major state highway.
On Jan. 9, a dumbbell crashed through the windshield of an SUV on the southbound New Jersey Turnpike in Oldmans Township in Salem County. The driver, 75-year-old Hamilton resident Jack DeCarlo, died Tuesday from his injuries.
That incident remains under investigation, although police said there was no evidence the 50-lb weight was thrown deliberately.
