A judge postponed until Nov. 18 ruling on whether to further reduce the bail for a former Rutgers University football player charged with three armed robberies.

NEW BRUNSWICK -- A judge postponed until Nov. 18 a hearing on whether to further reduce the bail for a former Rutgers University football player charged with three armed robberies.

Superior Court Judge Dennis Nieves postponed the motion by Andre "Dre" Boggs for a lower bail after his attorney, James Donohue, told the judge that he believed the evidence against his client "is garbage."

Donohue earlier asked the judge to lower Boggs' bail to $50,000 from the $300,000 bail the judge reduced it to in September. Nieves originally set Boggs' bail at $500,000 after he was arrested and charged with armed robbery, burglary and conspiracy in three home invasions in the spring of 2015 in New Brunswick and Piscataway.

"When you show me the case is garbage, then I'll lower the bail," the judge angrily told Donohue. "I don't want just words."

He told Donohue he would keep the motion open until Nov. 18, when he has asked all of the attorneys and former Rutgers football players and students to appear before him to see some of the evidence the prosecutor's office has against them.

The Middlesex County prosecutor's office charged Boggs, along with Lloyd Terry and Tejay Johnson, also former Rutgers football players, in the home invasions. They allegedly stole drugs and cash.

In total, nine former Rutgers football players were allegedly involved in the alleged home invasions and a fight on Delafield Street in April that injured a person.
