Students in five districts will start late
Several Middlesex County school districts will have a delayed opening on Friday morning following Thursday's snowstorm.
While roads are largely clear, the National Weather Service has warned of the possibility of black ice, especially on secondary roads, bridges and overpasses.
Snow totals recorded in the county ranged from 3.5 inches in the Madison Park section of Old Bridge to 6 inches in the Port Reading section of Woodbridge, the weather service said.
The following schools are scheduled to open late as of 5:30 a.m. Friday:
- Old Bridge - 2 hour delay
- Piscataway - 2 hour delay
- Sayreville - 90 minute delay
- South Plainfield - Delayed opening schedule starting at 9:06 a.m.
- Woodbridge - 2 hour delay
Experts predicting extreme cold, ice, & snow drifts in dark morning hours. I want to be sure everyone is safe. OB will have 2 hr delay 2/10.
