A 6-month-old baby and a driver remain critical after a school bus crash in North Brunswick.
NORTH BRUNSWICK -- A 6-month-old baby and the driver of a vehicle remain in critical condition after a crash Tuesday with a school bus.
The passenger of the vehicle, a Subaru, was in critical condition Tuesday evening but has since been updated to stable, according to Capt. Brian Hoiberg, of the North Brunswick Police Department.
All three were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
The driver of the school bus was also hospitalized with injuries that officials say were not considered life-threatening. No students were on the bus at the time, police said.
The crash occurred around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Carolier Lane and Route 130 North.
Hoiberg said he expects the department's traffic unit to finish a preliminary report by Wednesday afternoon, putting fault on one of the drivers in the accident.
"We know someone had to enter the intersection improperly," Hoiberg said.
According to a report by ABC 7, authorities said initially they believed the bus struck the car.
The report, citing law enforcement sources, also said police were investigating whether the baby was unrestrained and if either of the drivers had gone through the intersection illegally.
