Police are asking for this public's help in identifying a suspect in a bank robbery on Tuesday.

NORTH BRUNSWICK -- Police are asking for this public's help in identifying a man who held up a Chase Bank branch Tuesday and have released surveillance images of the robbery.

The bank robbery happened just before 6 p.m. when a man walked into the Chase Bank on Georges Road and ordered everyone on the ground, according to North Brunswick Police Capt. Brian Hoiberg. The robber then demanded money from the teller at gunpoint, Hoiberg said.

The man can be seen in the security footage image in all black, with most of his face covered with a mask, hat and sunglasses.

Police were on scene within minutes but Hoiberg said, "Unfortunately, he was a couple seconds ahead of us."

The robber took off on foot toward Farrington Lake and managed to avoid arrest despite New Jersey State Police assisting in the search with a helicopter.

Detectives are still running down leads, police said.
