East Brunswick High School graduate is named to the 2017 National Youth Orchestra of the Unites States of America.
EAST BRUNSWICK -- David S. Kim, a 2016 graduate of East Brunswick High School and a student at Princeton University, has been named to the 2017 National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America.
Kim, a cellist, is among nine student musicians from New Jersey and 38 musicians ages 16 to 19 nationwide chosen for the 2017 orchestra by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute for being "among the finest players in the country" after a competitive audition process.
NYO-USA members will begin a three-week training residency on the SUNY Purchase College campus in July before embarking on their tour, where they will perform under the direction of conductor Marin Alsop. Their schedule will include performances in New York, Mexico, Ecuador, and Colombia on the Orchestra's inaugural Latin American Tour.
Other New Jersey students named to the orchestra are Omar El-Abidin of Wall; Simon Housner, Cherry Hill; Julia Duguid, Westfield; Kingston Ho, New Providence; Andrew Hughes, Old Tappan; Alyssa Kim, River Edge; and Daniel Kim and Isabel Won of Montgomery.
