Monroe High School students have been asked to stop using the After School social networking app

MONROE -- Township police are investigating threatening and racist remarks posted on the After School social network app about Monroe High School, according to a letter sent to parents by the school principal.

The app, which allows anonymous comments, is not affiliated with the school and were not posted from within the school's network or through a school computer, Monroe High School Principal Robert Goodall wrote in the letter.

"Students at our high school reported to my office extremely disturbing posts, which targeted specific ethnic groups," Goodall wrote. "Monroe Township High School embraces the diversity of its community and these posts are beyond disappointing and will not be tolerated if posted by any of our students."

Goodall's letter discouraged students from using the app. The app has been blocked on the school's network, and the posts have since been removed.

After School says it's available for more than 85 percent of all high schools across the country.
