Defendants were arrested in a Walmart parking lot in Manville.
MANVILLE - Acting on a tip, borough police arrested two Perth Amboy men for possession of cocaine, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson announced in a news release Tuesday.
Rodolfo Romero-Rosa, 34, and Luis Torres, 24, were taken into custody after police received information that on March 17 two Hispanic males would be arriving in the borough's Walmart parking lot in a white pickup truck and in possession of a quantity of cocaine, according to the release.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the county's Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force and borough police staking out the area spotted the vehicle, which was driven by Torres, it was stated.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately three ounces of cocaine located in the cup holder of a child's booster seat, police said. It has an estimated street value of $5,000.
Romero-Rosa and Torres have each been charged with second-degree possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. They're being held in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
