SOUTH RIVER -- The South River council voted Monday to fire its borough administrator in a move touted by local Democrats as a cost saving measure in a small Middlesex municipality, a report says.
The council approved the termination 4-2 along party lines to remove Fred Carr from his position, My Central Jersey reports. Carr was hired in 2012 and was collecting $135,787 annually, according to state records.
South River has just over 16,000 residents, according to the U.S. Census.
Carr and Republican Mayor John Krenzel could not be reached for comment.
