EAST BRUNSWICK -- The European grocer ALDI is set to open its newest New Jersey location next week.

The discount German grocery giant will hold a grand opening bash on April 20 for the East Brunswick store at 50 Race Track Road.

"Since we already love it here so much, we're throwing a big grand opening bash full of great prizes, free samples and of course, our big savings," the chain says on its website

The first 100 customers will get a golden ticket with ALDI gift cards. Shoppers can also enter a sweepstakes for a year's supply of produce. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 8:45 a.m.

"We're thrilled to join the East Brunswick community and offer customers the benefits of the ALDI shopping experience," said Bob Grammer, Center Valley Division vice president for ALDI.

The grocery store will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The supermarket chain has more than 10,000 locations worldwide, and over the last few years, it had made a push to break in the Garden State grocer market, opening more than three dozen stores throughout the state.

In South Jersey, the chain recently held a hiring event for managers.
