Nobody was hurt, police said.
SPOTSWOOD -- An ambulance had a close call with a train after it got stuck on the tracks that run parallel to Main Street in Spotswood, according to police.
Borough police said the ambulance took a wrong turn off the road at around 6 p.m. on Nov. 24 and got stuck on the tracks. An oncoming train spotted the ambulance and managed to stop, police said.
A tow truck pulled the ambulance off the tracks, and nobody was hurt, police said.
Borough police say that getting stuck on the tracks is an "extremely common occurrence at this location."
"Drivers are urged to remain cautious and alert at this crossing as people frequently get confused, thinking the tracks are the road," police said.
Photographs posted by the borough police on Facebook show that the train was a few dozen yards away from the ambulance when it stopped.
