FRANKLIN -- A 24-year-old North Brunswick man was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault for a shooting earlier this month that sent one man to the hospital.
According to a press released issued by Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano Wednesday, Rajon L. McMillian allegedly entered a building at 660 Franklin Boulevard armed with a handgun to commit a robbery.
In an attempt to thwart the robbery, a 44-year-old man was shot while struggling with him, according the release.

Franklin Township Police responded to the street for a report of "shots fired," canvassed the area, but at the time did not observe any evidence of a shooting or any victims, Soriano said in the release.
While searching the neighborhood, officials were notified by an area hospital of a walk-in patient who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper chest, according to the release.
Detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit responded to conduct the investigation, Soriano stated in the release.
During the investigation detectives identified a second victim, a 30-year-old woman from New Brunswick, who was allegedly robbed of $1,000 at gun point, according to the release.

Crediting a cell phone found at the scene of the struggle, authorities were able to identify McMillian, Soriano said in the release.
At 2 p.m. on Wednesday, McMillian responded to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office in Somerville where he was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree armed robbery, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree aggravated assault.
McMillian was lodged in the Somerset County Jail with bail set at $150,000.
The shooting victim, a Bordentown resident, was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries and released, according to the release.
