The 19-year-old's new pop tune unexpectedly satirizes the Hollywood glitz that encompassed her "Idol" experience

Timing is everything.

Jax, the passionate East Brunswick songstress who finished third on "American Idol" last spring, dropped the music video for her debut single "La La Land" Wednesday afternoon, just hours before the "Idol" season 15 premiere kicks off, at 8 p.m.

The release makes sense, considering that's how most listeners know her, but the 19-year-old's new pop tune unexpectedly bemoans and satirizes the Hollywood glitz "Idol" tends to purvey.

"Everything ain't always what it seems," Jax warns in the chorus, in between verses about no time for sleeping, eating, being sick, or securing tickets for family members.

Most of the flippant lines ostensibly tackle the behind-the-scenes whirlwind of a performers's life in general, but she also mentions a "finale" and voting rules are run off as the song concludes.

Several of her fellow "Idol" season 14 contestants appear in the video as well, as industry professionals, to boost the sarcasm.

It's uncertain when Jax's debut album or EP will be released, but if it follows the lead of "La La Land," the Jersey girl will have deviated significantly from the bright-eyed hopes of her days singing on network television.

"American Idol" premieres Wednesday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
