State Police Sgt. Jeff Flynn said a car went into the guardrail in the car lanes at milepost 86 at 8:19 a.m.
Flynn said there was a couple in the car. Both were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, with "very serious" injuries.
