NEW BRUNSWICK -- The New Brunswick Police Department has four new officers among its ranks.
The new officers, Shawn P. Paganelli, Richard J. Reed III, Nicholas A. Grammar, and Anthony J. Jones, Jr. completed 21 weeks of training at the Cape May County Police Academy and were sworn in Friday afternoon at city hall.
"These new hires allow us to continue to expand our existing units and best respond to the needs of our community," said New Brunswick Police Director Anthony Caputo.
The New Brunswick Police Department now has 142 members, including the new officers, and Caputo said the department will be sending five more recruits to the academy by the end of January.
The four new officers, who begin their assignments immediately, bring the number of new officers hired by the department since 2013 to 27, he said.
