FREEHOLD -- A grand jury in Monmouth County has indicted a man on charges he robbed a Hazlet bank.
The indictment charged Stephen Fedorka III, 34, of Laurence Harbor, on Monday with robbery and unlawful taking by means of conveyance, acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced on Tuesday.
Fedorka is accused of robbing the Santander bank in Hazlet on Oct. 28, 2015.
Authorities said he entered the bank at around 9:45 a.m., and handed the teller a note that said he was armed with a handgun and to place all the money from the cashier's drawer into a bag.
After receiving the money, authorities said, Fedorka left the bank and went to his girlfriend's nearby residence, where he stole her car and left the area.
Fedorka was arrested on Nov. 1, 2015, after he returned to his girlfriend's residence to get some personal items, authorities said.
He faces up to 20 years in state prison if convicted of robbery.
