PERTH AMBOY -- In June 1906, Perth Amboy druggists Charles Barnekov and Henry Petz recorded that "from out of the blue came a hailstorm with pellets like cannonballs, powerful enough to break windows."
The men collected some of the projectiles and displayed them on the board in their drug store at 335 State St.
As noted on the board shown above, the samples reached sizes of 2 3/4 inches in diameter and 8 inches in circumference.
