PISCATAWAY -- A Plainfield man suspected of committing apartment burglaries in three counties was arrested Tuesday by Piscataway police.
Police said Anthony Armstrong, 26, was charged with the burglary of numerous garden-style apartments across Middlesex, Union and Somerset counties, and the theft of items worth more than $35,000.
Capt. Scott Cartmell, a spokesman for the department, said the investigation remains active and additional charges are expected to be filed against Armstrong, whose arrest was a result of a joint burglary task force investigation led by Piscataway police, but included assistance from the prosecutor's offices in Middlesex, Somerset and Union counties, and the police departments in Edison, Woodbridge, Middlesex Borough, Plainfield, North Plainfield, Clark, and Scotch Plains.
Armstrong is in the Middlesex County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail - $50,000 on burglary and $50,000 for theft. He must post the full amount to be released.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Piscataway police Detective Michael Coffey at 732-562-2313.
