MacArthur Avenue in Sayreville is closed for several hours after a truck spilled steel rods on the roadway. SAYREVILLE -- A tractor trailer carrying steel reinforcing rods lost its load at the intersection of MacArthur Avenue and Canal Street, according to police, who have closed MacArthur Avenue in the area in order to clean up the roadway.

Police advise motorists to use Main Street instead for the next several hours.
