A 23-year-old Carteret man who finished a five-year prison sentence on Wednesday was in court today on charges he robbed a man at gunpoint in Jersey City while on parole on Dec. 6, 2015, officials said.
JERSEY CITY -- A 23-year-old Carteret man who finished a five-year prison sentence on Wednesday was in court today on charges he robbed a man at gunpoint in Jersey City while on parole on Dec. 6, 2015, officials said.
Kevin Williams allegedly "pointed a handgun at (name omitted) and demanding him to give him all of the items in his possession, causing (name omitted) to believe that he would be shot if he did not comply, the criminal complaint says, adding that the victim handed over about $300.
Williams is also charged with weapons offenses related to a 9 mm handgun allegedly used in the robbery, the complaint says.
Williams was arrested after the incident, his parole was revoked and he was returned into custody on Dec. 7. He made his first court appearance on the new charges today in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City via video link from Hudson County jail in Kearny.
Williams was in prison on two weapons offenses from Dec. 10, 2012, to Sept. 10, 2015, and from Dec. 7, 2015, to Feb. 3, 2016, corrections records say.
Williams also has a case pending presentation to the grand jury. His bail was set at $175,000 cash or bond today.
