NEW BRUNSWICK -- Former Rutgers University football player Andre Boggs pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning to several charges of armed robbery arising out of a series of home invasions that took place over the spring of 2015 in New Brunswick.
Boggs was one of six former Rutgers students indicted in connection with the home invasion robberies in December, but was not arraigned on the charges last month with the other ex-students because he did not have an attorney.
One of the other former students indicted with Boggs, Tejay Johnson, was also before Superior Court Judge Dennis Nieves Wednesday morning because he has a new attorney.
Johnson is the only one of the former players and students charged in September to remain in the Middlesex County jail.
Johnson has also been indicted, along with five others, in an aggravated assault on Delafield Street in New Brunswick that was not related to the home invasions. The aggravated assault case allegedly involved an argument over a parking spot and left one person with a broken jaw.

In all, between the two unrelated incidents--the home invasion robberies and the assault on Delafield Street--there are about a dozen people facing charges, including eight former Rutgers University football players. Everyone involved in the incidents, including the victims, attended the university.
Judge Nieves set April 6 as the next court date for Boggs and Johnson.
