A 75-year-old Perth Amboy man was indicted for the fatal stabbing of one man and stabbing of three others. NEW BRUNSWICK -- A 75-year-old Perth Amboy man was indicted Thursday for the fatal stabbing of one man and stabbing three others on a city street in September.
Anibal Rodriguez was charged in a 10-count indictment with murder, attempted murder, making terroristic threats and several weapons counts on Sept. 3, 2015, the night Phillip Willis, 65, of Perth Amboy was stabbed to death.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey said police were alerted at 12:52 p.m. to a dispute that began in an apartment on Madison Avenue. Rodriguez became involved in an argument with a 36-year-old woman and allegedly stabbed her multiple times. Carey said she has since recovered.
The prosecutor said Rodriguez also threatened a 54-year-old female and a 24-year-old male who ran to the apartment when he heard screams. They were not injured, he said.
Carey said Rodriguez left the building and walked toward Smith Street, where he happened upon Willis, and recognized him as an acquaintance of the 36-year-old woman with whom he had argued.

The prosecutor said Rodriguez stabbed Willis, who was taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy where he was pronounced dead at 1:45 p.m.
Carey said Rodriguez was subdued by Omar Smith, an on-duty Middlesex County Sheriff's Officer and a civilian passerby.
Rodriguez is being held in the Middlesex County jail in lieu of $1.7 million bail.
