WOODBRIDGE -- An Orange man was in the Middlesex County jail, facing drug
charges, after police said he was arrested when he arrived at a hotel in the Avenel section of Woodbridge to sell heroin to an undercover officer.
Police said when Joseph Warmack, whose street name is "Crack", arrived at the hotel, officers attempted to arrest him, but he took off and they chased him. He was stopped and arrested a short distance away, authorities said.
Police said in a prepared statement that marijuana was found on him when he was arrested, but knowing "knowing this individual just drove to the location to sell heroin to the undercover officer," they asked for permission to search his car, which was denied.

Authorities said a narcotics K9 dog was called in and positively indicated the presences of drugs on the vehicle, leading detectives to apply to a judge for a search warrant for Warmack's 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Police said detectives searched the vehicle on Thursday and found 303 bags of heroin, approximately six bricks. They also seized the vehicle and will file for forfeiture because he used it to "further his drug distribution business," police said.
Warmack is charged with conspiracy, distribution of heroin and marijuana, possession of heroin and marijuana, obstruction of the administration of law and driving while suspended.
He is in the county jail in lieu of $70,000 bail.
