NEW BRUNSWICK -- Rutgers University police said they were investigating an attack early Saturday that left a man injured after an "incident" at an off-campus residence in New Brunswick.

The man, who is not affiliated with the university, told officers three men approached him on Huntington Street, between Sicard Street and College Avenue, around 12:30 a.m., an alert from campus police said.

One of the men hit him with a blunt object, according to the alert. The victim was treated and released at a local hospital.

Police said they did not have a detailed description of the attacker.

The university police department asked anyone with information to call detectives at 848-932-8025.
