Middlesex County College's Kaitlyn Johnsen was one of 14 student-athletes from New Jersey's community colleges to receive "Woman of the Year" recognition at the National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration held on Feb. 7 at Seton Hall University.
EDISON -- Middlesex County College's Kaitlyn Johnsen was one of 14 student-athletes from New Jersey's community colleges to receive "Woman of the Year" recognition at the National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration held on Feb. 7 at Seton Hall University.
Johnsen, a resident of Old Bridge, plays soccer, basketball and softball for MCC. She was named All-Region and All-Conference in soccer.
"Kaitlyn is a wonderful student-athlete," said Carey Monkowski, MCC's assistant athletic director. "She's an outstanding student, as well as a great teammate and a team leader."
The other "Woman of the Year" recipients from county colleges include: Barbara Gedeon, Atlantic Cape College; Nadia Vaso, Bergen Community College; Ashley Cafarella, Brookdale Community College; Amber Steen, Rowan College at Burlington County; Natalie Acciani, Camden County College; Brielle Mulcahy, County College of Morris; Sahara Lopez, Cumberland County College; Leah Jayne, Rowan College at Gloucester County; Dana Davies, Mercer County Community College; Adelle Hickman, Ocean County College; Courtney Price, Raritan Valley Community College; Rachel Meredith, Sussex County Community College; and Giovanna DelSordo, Union County College.
Women from high schools and four-year colleges and universities also were honored.
