Middlesex County motorists faced a messy morning commute due to an overnight storm.
The storm that brought rain and strong gusts of wind to New Jersey overnight created a messy morning commute for motorists throughout Middlesex County on Thursday.
The East Brunswick Police Department reported Thursday morning that Beekman Road was closed until further notice between Church Lane and Ireland Brook, at the South Brunswick border, due to a tree hanging in overhead electrical wires and wires down alongside the roadway.
Motorists were asked to plan an alternate route through the area.
As of 5:30 a.m., 511NJ was also reporting that all lanes of traffic were closed on Shepard Avenue and River Road in Middlesex due to flooding.
While the storm knocked out power to thousands of people throughout New Jersey overnight, Jersey Central Power & Light was reporting that only 17 customers in Middlesex County were without power as of 7 a.m.
