John P. Faber Elementary School students help prepare lunch for the school.
DUNELLEN --If the lunches at John P. Faber Elementary School tasted extra good on March 8, it was because there were two special chefs in the kitchen.
Students Tyler Petterson and Maria Cermeno Chacon were chosen by principal Gary Lubisco Jr. to work with a chef from Maschio's Food Services, the school lunch provider, to help prepare lunches for the student body. The student chefs were Maschio's idea to help students understand the importance of healthy eating.
Tyler and Maria headed into the kitchen after breakfast was served, where they helped to prepare lunch and got a first-hand lesson on what takes place in a school kitchen. During the lunch periods they also handed out pencils and fliers in honor of National School Breakfast Week, and helped with a plate sticker game.
