Cub Scout Pack 105 hosts a "Raingutter Regatta."
MONROE -- The spring-like weather set the perfect stage for Cub Scout Pack 105's "Raingutter Regatta," held April 20 at the Monroe Recreational Center.
The Raingutter Regatta is a race similar to the Scouts' Pinewood Derby, but instead of racing cars down tracks, the Scouts race boats they have built from kits down a 10-foot long rain gutter filled with water. The Scouts propel the boats by blowing on the sail, either directly or through a drinking straw, however, they cannot touch the boats.
Nearly 50 racers competed at the Regatta, but in the end, the Pack 105 Scouts emerged victorious. Tiger Scout Ethan Rodrigues finished first, Webelos II Scout Nathanial Green, second, and Tiger Scout Zeeshaan Bohra finished third.
Cub Scout Pack 105 meets the third Wednesday of the month at the Jamesburg Ellks Lodge. For more information visit monroepack105.com.
