A fire that began behind a home on Harding Road in Old Bridge destroyed a house and damaged two others.
OLD BRIDGE -- One house was destroyed and two neighboring homes were damaged in a fire late Saturday in the Laurence Harbor section of the township, according to the township mayor.
No one was hurt in the blaze reported on Harding Road at 11:30 p.m., Mayor Owen Henry said.
Three families were displaced. Two are being housed by the American Red Cross and the third is staying with another family member, Henry said.
"We are just thankful that no one was injured," the mayor said.
The fire started in a wooded area behind the homes and moved up the hill toward the residences where a propane tank exploded, according to a report on News 12. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, the report said.
