The location of Donald Trump's New Jersey headquarters is a bit of a surprise.
EDISON -- Donald Trump's presidential campaign will host a grand opening for its New Jersey headquarters Tuesday night, a little more than a month before the Garden State's primary.
Just don't expect Trump -- or his biggest Jersey booster, Gov. Chris Christie -- to be there.
The headquarters are located in Edison, which is a bit surprising considering Trump is the front-runner for the Republican nomination. The township is a Democratic stronghold in Middlesex County that hasn't elected a Republican mayor in half a century.
Tuesday's opening will come as the results of the Indiana primary pour in. An announcement about the event said those who attend with a printed or digital ticket will get a free "Trump: Make America Great Again" T-shirt.
Trump, the billionaire businessman who owns three New Jersey golf courses and once owned three Atlantic City casinos, is not scheduled to attend, the campaign said.
And Christie, a fellow Republican who endorsed Trump and has campaigned for him, said at a news conference Monday he isn't planning to be there either.
Christie said he and his wife, Mary Pat Christie, have other plans.
"But I understand that there's gonna be a lot of people there, and that he has a lot of RSVPs and a lot of excitement about it," the governor said.
Polls show Trump is the heavy favorite to win New Jersey's Republican primary June 7.
Usually, the state's presidential primary doesn't matter because it's held toward the end of the primary season, after the nominee is already decided.
But Trump is still in a fight to secure the nomination, and Christie has said he believes New Jersey could help him clinch it.
