Jackpot is $80 million for Wednesday's drawing

The latest Powerball millionaire who bought a ticket in New Jersey was savvy and extremely lucky.

The person who bought a Powerball ticket for Saturday's drawing in North Brunswick won $2 million because he or she spent an extra $1 to exercise the Powerplay option.

The ticket was sold at Krauszer's at the intersection of Route 130 & Wood Avenue in the Middlesex County town, state lottery officials announced Monday afternoon.

Saturday's winning numbers were 5-7-9-23-32. The Powerball, which the $2 million Jersey ticket didn't have, was 26.

A ticket in Arizona and one in California also matched five nunbers are are worth $1 million apiece.

Saturday's big win in New Jersey continued the run of good luck in the Garden State. 

ticket sold in Lower Township for Wednesday's drawing was worth $1 million. On May 7, a 70-year-old mother and her seven adult children won the $429.6 million Powerball jackpot with the single most valuable lottery ticket bought in the state. Also this month, there was a $1 million Mega Millions ticket sold in a 7-Eleven in Clementon. 

The next chance to win a giant jackpot comes Tuesday as the Mega Millions top prize is up to $203 million with a cash option of $132 million. Meanwhile, Wednesday's Powerball jackpot has risen to $80 million with a cash option of $52.2 million.

The twice-weekly Powerball game is played in 44 states, Washington D.C, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of buying a jackpot winning ticket are 292,201,338 to 1. A $2 ticket gives a buyer about a 1 in 11,688,053 shot to win $1 million.
