Authorities said the 27-year-old fugitive was found hiding in a home in Minerville, Pennsylvania.
SCRANTON, PA - A 27-year-old fugitive from New Jersey was arrested in Minersville, Pennsylvania on Thursday by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.
Anthony Burgos, 27, of Woodbridge, was wanted on a warrant issued by the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office in connection to the burglary of a Keansburg home.
According to a criminal complaint, Burgos allegedly used a piece of copper pipe to break into a home on Center Street in Keansburg on June 4 and then assaulted the occupant of the home in an attempt to steal money from the alleged victim.
Burgos was subsequently charged with several offenses, including burglary, robbery and assault .
The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office obtained an arrest warrant for Burgos on June 17.
Authorities obtained information that Burgos may have been in the Minersville area and a request for assistance was made to the Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in Scranton.
On Thursday morning, the task force and other law enforcement agencies located Burgos at a residence on Westwood Street in Minersville.
Personnel from the Pennsylvania State Police, Scranton Police Department, Minersville Police Department and the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force were also involved on the case.
Burgos was arrested without incident after he was found hiding in the residence and was turned over to local authorities pending extradition to New Jersey.
"The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to locate and apprehend those who are wanted for serious crimes. Our communities will not be a safe haven," United States Marshal Martin Pane said in a release.
