Procter & Gamble plans to close its fragerence and chemcial production facility in Avenel by 2018, according to a report.
WOODBRIDGE TWP. -- Procter & Gamble plans to shutter its plant in the Avenel section of the township by the end of 2018 and shift the operation to one of its facilities in Ohio.
The plant, which manufactures chemicals and fragrances for products like Tide detergent and other household products, employs 90 workers -- positions that, according to a report by the Cincinnati Business Courier, will be eliminated upon the plant's closure.
Citing a company spokesman, the report said P&G's decision to close the plant was part of the company's desire to "synchronize its operations" with more strategically placed facilities in order to "better serve retail customers and consumers."
