The woman was shot in the chest, the man in the lower back
NEW BRUNSWICK -- A man and a woman are in critical condition after a shooting near Throop Avenue and Delavan Street Monday night, according to a statement from a city spokesperson.
Police responded to the scene at around 9 p.m. where they found a 43-year-old city man shot in the lower back. The man, who was not identified, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
Authorities were also directed to the area of Livingston Avenue and Handy Street, where they found a 23-year-old woman in the backseat of a vehicle shot in the chest. She was also not identified in the statement.
The New Brunswick Police Department's Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
No suspects have been identified at this time, police said.
