South Brunswick men walked from train tracks into the parking lot of a strip mall, according to police
SOUTH BRUNSWICK -- An off-duty police chief responded to a call Tuesday morning that resulted in the arrests of two armed men who had been walking on train tracks in South Brunswick, authorities said.
When Chief Raymond Hayducka arrived just after 8:30 a.m., he and an officer saw the duo in the parking lot of the nearby Old English Square strip mall on Ridge Road, South Brunswick police said.
Both men were armed with handguns and appeared to be "highly impaired," a news release said.
Kyle Moore, 24, and Virenkuma Patel, 22, both of the Monmouth Junction section of town, were charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. Additional charges could be filed.
Moore was held on $60,000 bail, while Patel's bail was set at $75,000.
