A Metuchen woman accused of poisoning a victim was indicted on Wednesday.
NEW BRUNSWICK -- A Middlesex County grand jury on Wednesday indicted a Metuchen woman accused of poisoning a victim earlier this year, according to a statement from the county prosecutor's office.
Theresa Freis, 44, is accused of giving "clonazepam or a benzodiazepine or benzodiazepines to her victim" on May 25 causing the victim, who was not identified in the statement, to become ill. The victim was taken to John F. Kennedy Medical Center, in Edison, and has since recovered, the statement said.
Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Vincent Vitale presented evidence and testimony to the grand jury.
Freis, who was arrested in June and released after posting bail, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
