The event will be held at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison.
TRENTON -- Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is scheduled to make a rare campaign appearance in New Jersey on Saturday when he is keynote speaker at a charity event hosted by the Republican Hindu Coalition, according to the organization's website.
The event, "Humanity United Against Terror," featuring Trump, terrorism survivors and Indian and Bollywood performers, will be held at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison, the coalition's website said.
"This is a charity concert organized for the benefit of terror victims in various countries," Shalabh Kumar, founder of the Republican Hindu Coalition and chairman of the Indian American Advisory Council to the Republican Party told the Indian media in New Delhi. Ticket prices range from $9.99 to $499, although the cheapest seats are sold out.
People who purchase the most expensive tickets will be invited to a "meet and greet" event with Trump and the other celebrities, according to the website.
"I'm very much looking forward to speaking to thousands of Indian Americans and others about making America great again," the real estate mogul and former reality show star said in a video posted on the Republican Hindu Coalition website. "I look forward to seeing everybody there. It will be an incredible evening."
Did Trump's poll ratings suffer since release of video?
Trump campaign officials could not immediately be reached for comment to confirm his appearance. Trump is expected to campaign the same day in New Hampshire at noon and Maine at 3 p.m., according to his schedule. The event in Edison begins at 6 p.m.
Kumar said the Hindu political organization supports Trump for his record in business and his pledge to help India access weapons, according to The Hindu.
"U.S. laws continue to view India as a Soviet-ally as a continuation of the Cold War policies. This attitude prevents India from accessing high-end weapons. As the president of the United States, Donald Trump will bring in the changes to help India access arms," Kumar told the newspaper.
Despite his longstanding ties to New Jersey - Trump owns three golf courses here and once operated three casinos in Atlantic City - he has not spent much time campaigning in the Garden State. New Jersey voters have tended to vote for Democrats for president and polls indicate Hillary Clinton will win the state.
The event was originally scheduled to be held at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, but the location was changed to the expo hall inside the Raritan Center business and industrial park.
