Some 2,500 students, faculty and staff are expected to attempt to hold the planking position for one minute, the school said.

The current record for most people planking simultaneously is 1,549, according to GuinessWorldRecords.com. King George School in Hong Kong established the mark on Dec. 16, 2011.

A plank is completed by resting one's body weight on his her forearms while parallel to the ground. The participant's shoulders, ankles and hips must not sag and the person's hands must be shoulder-width apart.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Registration, which is free, must be complete by 5:30 p.m. and the attempt starts at 6 p.m. The first 2,500 participants will get a T-shirt.
