The complaint accuses Rutgers of creating the 'sexually hostile' environment

NEW BRUNSWICK -- Rutgers and two former university football players have been named in a lawsuit alleging the two athletes sexually assaulted an intoxicated student on-campus.

The complaint claims Marques Ford and John Bowers both had sex with the woman in November 2015 after she consumed too much alcohol to give consent.

The woman was dating Bowers at the time, according to the lawsuit.

The woman accused Rutgers of creating the "sexually hostile" environment, according to the complaint.

Bowers transferred to the University of Rhode Island earlier this year, according to a Tweet from the school. Ford transferred out of Rutgers late in 2015.

Ford committed to East Carolina University earlier this month.

Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office is looking into the claim, Law360 reports.

A Rutgers official said in an email the university does not comment on pending litigation.

The prosecutor's office did not respond to NJ Advance Media's calls for comment.
