No wet weather expected at least through the weekend
The two-day stretch of wet, warm weather in New Jersey is about over.
A dry, sunny day Thursday begins a stretch of clear weather, the National Weather Service says.
How did hurricane season compare?
While afternoon highs will be in the mid 50s to near 60 in some spots, it'll be windy with gusts of 25-35 mph likely on Thursday.
Overnight lows will dip into the 30s under mostly clear skies.
In many parts of the state it was warmer at 3 a.m. Thursday than it's expected to be at 3 p.m. For example, it was 63 at Atlantic City International Airport several hours ago, but it's 57 as of 6:30 a.m. with the temperature expected to reach 60 by mid-afternoon.
Friday's forecast also calls for sunny skies, but it'll be a bit cooler with highs only in the low 50s. Saturday and Sunday are expected to be sunny and brisk with highs in the 40s.
Nighttime temps on the weekend will be in the 30s - normal for early December.
More than an inch-and-half of rain fell in many spots between 5 a.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday, which should provide a bit of help to reservoirs in the drought-plagued state.
Readington received 1.74 inches during that stretch and got a 48-hour total of 3.56 inches, the weather service said.
Trenton-Mercer Airport in Ewing picked up 1.01 inches in a 24-hour span, while Sussex Airport in Wantage checked in at 1.43 inches.
