A sentencing date has been scheduled for Michelle Lodzinski
NEW BRUNSWICK -- The sentencing for Michelle Lodzinski, the former South Amboy woman convicted of killing her 5-year-old son in 1991, has been scheduled for January, officials said Thursday.
Lodzinski, who in May was found guilty of the murder of her son Timothy Wiltsey, is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 5 at 9 a.m. in Middlesex County Superior Court before Judge Dennis V. Nieves.
Lodzinski's sentencing had been postponed so that a judge could consider a motion from the defense to acquit her or grant a new trial. Those motions, however, were ultimately denied.
The case has unfolded over 25 years following Timothy's disappearance, of which Lodzinski has denied any involvement. She maintained he vanished on Memorial Day weekend in 1991 while the two were at a traveling carnival in Sayreville, previous reports said.
About a year after he vanished, Timothy's skeletal remains were found in a marsh in Raritan Center in Edison, close by to Lodzinski's former job. No forensic evidence was ever tied to Lodzinski, and the way in which Timothy died remains unknown due to the body's deterioration when it was found.
